Service Description

Outdoor Education & Wellbeing At Wild Minds, we believe nature is a powerful environment for growth. We offer outdoor education and wellbeing experiences that help children and young people build confidence, resilience and a deeper connection to the natural world. What We Offer Outdoor Learning Sessions We provide engaging, hands-on outdoor activities in woodland and natural spaces. Children explore, create, problem-solve and learn through direct experiences with the environment. Activities may include bushcraft skills, nature exploration, tool use, sensory work, teamwork challenges, environmental understanding and practical outdoor tasks — all designed to support learning in a calm, open setting. Working With Deedee the Pony A unique part of our sessions is the opportunity to spend time with Deedee, our gentle and friendly pony. Children can groom her, take part in care routines and learn how to interact calmly and respectfully with an animal. Working with Deedee encourages confidence, empathy, patience and emotional regulation. Her calming presence is especially beneficial for children who may feel anxious or need a soothing, grounding experience outdoors. Monday Home Education Programme Our Monday sessions are designed specifically for home-educated children. Each week offers a mix of practical outdoor skills, nature-based exploration, confidence-building activities and time with Deedee. Children learn through movement, discovery, creativity and interaction with the natural world. Behaviour & Wellbeing Support For children who find traditional learning environments difficult, we offer gentle, flexible outdoor sessions that support emotional regulation, communication, confidence and social development. Our practitioners create supportive spaces where young people can learn at their own pace. Custom Outdoor Experiences for Home-Ed Families & Groups We also offer tailored outdoor sessions for families or small home-education groups. These can be adapted to a child’s interests, needs and abilities, providing personalised learning in nature. Why Wild Minds Nature supports calm and confidence — The outdoors helps children regulate emotionally and feel grounded. Learning through doing — Activities are practical and experience-based, encouraging problem-solving, resilience and curiosity. Animal-assisted learning — Deedee the pony offers a gentle, nurturing way to build empathy, responsibility and self-esteem.
