Home Education Session

New Home Education Course at the Studio For all School Ages. 

We’re excited to introduce a brand-new course designed especially for home-educated young people, offering a fun, supportive, and engaging space to grow and thrive.

Every Tuesday- 2hrs- 6weeks

Every Friday-2hrs - 6weeks

Through carefully designed activities, this programme helps children and young people develop:

Social Engagement – build confidence, make friends, and strengthen interpersonal skills.

Team Building & Leadership – work together, solve challenges, and take on leadership roles in a safe and encouraging environment.

Communication Skills – improve speaking, listening, and collaboration through interactive group tasks.

Fitness & Wellbeing – enjoy fun, active sessions using our unique facilities, including bungee fitness, virtual reality headsets, and more!

With over 12 years of experience in youth services, employability training, and independent living skills, we’ve positively impacted more than 12,000 young people—including 7,000+ through our residential programmes. This new session brings that wealth of expertise directly to home-educated young people, giving them opportunities to grow in confidence, build lifelong skills, and have fun along the way.

Life Skills Life skills are the everyday tools we all need to grow into confident, independent, and capable young adults. At The Studio, our Life Skills Sessions give home-educated students the chance to learn, practise, and develop the skills that will prepare them for real life—in education, work, and beyond. Why Life Skills Matter Life isn’t just about academic knowledge—it’s about knowing how to handle challenges, make good decisions, and take responsibility. Our sessions are designed to build independence and confidence, so young people feel ready for whatever comes next. What We Cover Through fun and practical activities, we explore: Money Management – budgeting, saving, and understanding the value of money. Everyday Independence – cooking basics, personal organisation, and problem-solving. Communication Skills – speaking with confidence, listening well, and working with others. Time Management & Organisation – how to plan, prioritise, and stay on track. Employability & Work Readiness – preparing for future jobs and opportunities. Resilience & Decision-Making – handling setbacks and making positive choices. How We Deliver It Our sessions are hands-on and interactive, giving young people the chance to practise skills in real-life scenarios rather than just learning about them in theory. Social Action Social action is about making a difference—not only to the local community, but also to yourself. By taking part in projects that matter, young people can see the positive impact they can create, while gaining valuable skills and experiences along the way. Why Social Action Matters Stronger Communities – when young people give their time and energy, they help meet real needs in their area. Personal Growth – taking responsibility, showing initiative, and working with others builds confidence and leadership skills. Lasting Impact – projects can leave behind something meaningful that benefits everyone, from improving local spaces to supporting those in need. What We Do in Sessions Our social action sessions guide young people to: Explore Local Needs – think about what the community needs most, from environmental projects to social support. Plan & Create Projects – design initiatives that are realistic, meaningful, and beneficial. Work Together – collaborate in teams to put ideas into action. Build for the Future – develop projects with the potential to last and grow beyond the initial sessions. Mental health & Well being At The Studio, we believe that a healthy body supports a healthy mind. Our Mental Health & Wellbeing Sessions are designed to help young people understand the importance of looking after both their physical and mental health—through fun, practical, and interactive activities. Why It Matters Good mental health and wellbeing aren’t just about “feeling happy”—they’re about having the tools to cope with challenges, build resilience, and enjoy everyday life. By combining physical activity with practical strategies, we show young people how to create positive habits that last. What We Do Our sessions explore a variety of wellbeing topics, including: Healthy Body, Healthy Mind – how exercise, nutrition, and sleep impact mental health. Practical Stress Relief – fun activities and techniques to relax, reset, and recharge. Building Resilience – learning how to bounce back from setbacks and stay positive. Social Connections – why friendships, teamwork, and communication are key to wellbeing. Mindfulness & Self-Care – simple, everyday practices that support mental balance. How We Deliver It Sessions are active and engaging, using our unique facilities and creative approaches to make wellbeing practical and enjoyable—not just something you talk about. Finding your voice Speaking confidently in front of others is a skill that can transform how young people express themselves and connect with the world. Our Finding Your Voice Sessions are designed to boost public speaking and presentation skills in a supportive, practical, and fun environment. What We Focus On Body Language & Presence – using posture, gestures, and facial expressions to communicate effectively. Voice Projection & Tone – learning how tone, volume, and pace can influence different situations. Practical Scenarios – practising real-life situations to become more confident and approachable. Overcoming Anxiety – turning feelings of nervousness or fear about speaking in public into manageable, learnable skills. Confidence Through Practice – regular, guided practice helps students take something that feels impossible and make it achievable. Why It Matters Public speaking is more than just talking—it’s about being heard, understood, and feeling confident in yourself. Employability At The Studio, we believe employability is about more than just getting a job—it’s about equipping young people with the skills, confidence, and knowledge they need to succeed in the world of work and beyond. Employability means: Understanding your strengths and how to present them Developing essential workplace skills like teamwork, communication, and problem-solving Gaining practical tools to prepare for job applications and interviews Building the confidence to step into new opportunities What We Offer Our employability sessions are designed specifically for home-educated students and provide a supportive, engaging space to learn valuable life and work skills. Sessions include: CV Writing – learn how to create a professional CV that showcases skills, experiences, and achievements. Life Skills for Work – develop practical knowledge for everyday working life, from time management to workplace etiquette. Mock Interviews – practise interview techniques in a safe environment and gain feedback to improve confidence. Job Applications – guidance on completing application forms, writing cover letters, and tailoring submissions to stand out. Transferable Skills – explore how hobbies, volunteering, and personal experiences can demonstrate employability. Why It Matters These sessions help young people: Gain independence and self-belief Understand what employers look for Build a toolkit of practical skills for future education, training, or employment Feel prepared for the next step in their journey

Escape boxes Problem-solving has never been so much fun! Our Escape Box Sessions are designed to develop modern problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills through exciting, hands-on challenges. How It Works Step 1: Crack the Code – working in teams, students take on one of our escape box challenges. They’ll need to collaborate, think critically, and communicate clearly to solve the puzzles and unlock the box. Step 2: Create Your Own – once they’ve experienced an escape box, students will design and programme their very own! Using creativity and logic, they’ll build puzzles, set challenges, and bring their ideas to life. Step 3: Dragons’ Den Pitch – finally, students will pitch their escape box idea to the group in a “Dragons’ Den” style presentation, practising confidence, public speaking, and persuasive communication. What Students Gain Problem-Solving Skills – thinking outside the box (literally!) to overcome challenges. Team Building & Communication – working together under pressure and learning to share ideas effectively. Creativity & Innovation – designing puzzles and challenges that others can enjoy. Presentation Skills – confidently pitching ideas to an audience in a fun, supportive setting. Why It’s Rewarding Not only do students get the thrill of cracking an escape box, but they also experience the pride of seeing their own escape box come to life—and the excitement of sharing it with others.

Resilience Resilience is the ability to bounce back from challenges, manage emotions, and keep moving forward—even when life feels tough. At The Studio, our Resilience Sessions help young people build the skills and awareness they need to handle setbacks with confidence. What We Focus On Impulse Control – learning to pause, think, and make positive choices instead of reacting quickly. Emotional Awareness – recognising feelings in ourselves and others, and understanding how emotions affect our decisions. Coping Strategies – practical tools for staying calm, problem-solving, and managing stress. Positive Mindset – seeing challenges as opportunities to grow and learning from mistakes. Why It Matters Everyone faces setbacks—what matters is how we deal with them. By strengthening resilience, young people can: Build greater self-control and confidence Manage emotions in a healthy way Develop perseverance and determination Feel more prepared for everyday challenges and future goals How We Deliver It Our sessions are interactive, supportive, and designed to give students practical strategies they can use straight away—through activities, discussions, and problem-solving challenges. Independent Living Preparing for adult life involves more than just knowing the basics—it’s about gaining the skills and confidence to manage your own life successfully. Our Independent Living Sessions focus on practical, everyday skills that help young people live independently and make informed decisions. What We Cover Budgeting & Money Management – learning to manage income, plan expenses, and save for the future. Understanding Taxes & Bills – a clear introduction to taxes, bills, and essential payments. Wants vs Needs – making smart choices about spending and prioritising essentials. Shopping & Practical Skills – managing groceries, planning meals, and making cost-effective decisions. Why It Matters Independent living skills are essential for building confidence, responsibility, and self-sufficiency. By practising these skills, young people can: Take control of their finances and daily life Make informed decisions and avoid common pitfalls Build confidence for future education, training, or employment Develop practical knowledge that lasts a lifetime How We Deliver It Our sessions are hands-on and interactive, giving students opportunities to practise real-life scenarios in a safe and supportive environment. Exam Readiness Exams can feel like a big challenge—especially for home-educated young people preparing independently. Our Exam Readiness Sessions are designed to support students with both the practical skills and the emotional resilience needed to approach exams with confidence. What is Exam Readiness? Exam readiness is about more than knowing the subject. It’s about being able to manage stress, stay focused, and use effective revision techniques so that young people can perform at their best on the day. What We Cover Our sessions provide practical tools and strategies, including: Understanding Exam Stress – recognising common feelings such as nerves, pressure, and worry, and learning how to manage them. Stress Management Techniques – breathing exercises, positive mindset strategies, and ways to stay calm before and during exams. Revision Skills – how to plan a realistic timetable, break information into manageable chunks, and make revision active and engaging. Tips & Tricks – memory techniques, effective note-taking, and ways to tackle tricky questions with confidence. Exam Practice – building familiarity with exam conditions, time management, and answering different types of questions. Why It Matters By taking part in these sessions, students will: Feel more confident and less overwhelmed about upcoming exams Learn techniques to stay calm and focused under pressure Develop a revision plan that works for them as individuals Gain the tools to perform at their best on exam day

Stress Management/ Anxiety Stress and anxiety are feelings we all experience at different times—especially when facing new challenges, exams, or changes in life. Our Stress Management Sessions are designed to help young people understand what stress is, recognise it in themselves, and learn positive ways to manage it. What We Cover Understanding Stress & Anxiety – exploring what they are, how they affect us, and why everyone experiences them in different ways. Recognising the Signs – learning how to notice stress or anxious feelings in ourselves and others. Practical Management Techniques – simple, effective strategies such as breathing exercises, relaxation techniques, positive thinking, and healthy routines. Building Resilience – finding ways to overcome challenges, stay calm, and regain control in stressful situations. Important to Note These sessions are not about diagnosing stress or anxiety. Instead, they provide a safe, supportive space to: Talk about the effects of stress and anxiety Normalise the fact that everyone experiences these feelings Learn practical skills to reduce and manage them The Benefits Students who take part will: Develop greater self-awareness and coping strategies Gain confidence in managing difficult situations Build emotional resilience for both education and everyday life

Careers & Progression Planning for the future can feel exciting—and sometimes overwhelming. Our Career & Progression Sessions help young people explore their ambitions, set meaningful goals, and understand the practical steps to achieve them. What We Focus On Goal Setting – identifying personal strengths, passions, and ambitions. Pathways & Options – exploring different routes such as further education, apprenticeships, training, or employment. Action Planning – breaking big goals into smaller, achievable steps. Workplace Skills – understanding what employers value and how to prepare for the world of work. Motivation & Growth – building confidence, resilience, and determination to keep progressing. My Development Our My Development Sessions focus on personal growth and wellbeing, helping young people take charge of their own progress while balancing mind and body. These sessions combine practical strategies with self-reflection to build confidence, resilience, and focus. What We Cover Healthy Body, Healthy Mind – understanding how physical wellbeing supports mental wellbeing and overall development. SMART Goals – learning to set Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound goals to stay focused and motivated. Routines & Habits – exploring the pros and cons of having a daily routine and how structure can support productivity and wellbeing. Why It Matters Developing self-awareness and planning skills helps young people: Stay motivated and focused on personal goals Understand the connection between physical and mental health Make thoughtful choices about how they spend their time Build habits and routines that support long-term growth How We Deliver It Sessions are interactive and practical, combining discussions, activities, and reflection exercises that encourage students to explore their strengths, set achievable goals, and create routines that work for them.
